Feather & Chains

Curatorial Statement

Feathers & Chains inhabits the liminal space where perception, choice, and constraint converge. In this body of work, Oussamah navigates the fragile tension between what anchors and what ascends, between inherited frameworks and the quiet impulse to move beyond them. His practice becomes a means of deconstructing freedom, exposing it not as an absolute condition but as a mutable state shaped by resistance, awareness, and desire. The exhibition unfolds as a meditation on transformation. It resists linear narration, instead composing a sequence of encounters—moments of revelation and hesitation where the act of seeing becomes inseparable from the act of understanding. Through these shifting planes of perception, Oussamah invites the viewer to consider how liberation and self-knowledge often emerge together, each defined by the other in their delicate reciprocity. Yet Feathers & Chains offers no resolution. It proposes instead a space of contemplation, a suspended interval where observation and introspection coexist, and where the weight of possibility meets the lightness of release. In this dialogue between restraint and openness, Oussamah gestures toward a freedom not as escape, but as a conscious, evolving engagement with one’s own boundaries.
